Yes, volunteer hours may be used to fulfill volunteer requirements. We require a three month time commitment from all of our volunteer positions. If your school requirement is less than three months, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (603) 447-5955 or send an email.
There may be times when we are in need of help from a group for projects on-site such as yard work or landscaping or other one time projects as needed. If something like this interests you, please email us to discuss project availability. Small groups may consider other off site ways to help such as organizing a donation drive, toy drive, or adoption promotion.
The Conway Area Humane Society is in need of volunteers on the weekends from 8am to 4pm.
Although we do strongly encourage applicants to commit to two hours each week, we do offer monthly opportunities for individuals who are unable to commit to a regular schedule.
Conway Area Humane Society recognizes the important role that animals play in the lives of children. We strive to protect and nurture the love of animals that is naturally present in children by giving them the opportunity to be around animals and to help animals in need.
Our Youth Volunteer Program has two guiding principles: kindness and safety. All CAHS volunteer roles are very important to improving the lives of the homeless animals in our care. To ensure the safety of both children and animals, volunteer responsibilities are limited by age. Please contact us for specific information on age-related responsibilities.
CAHS reserves the right to determine if a particular child is ready for a specific volunteer role, regardless of the child’s age. A parent or guardian must complete a volunteer application for themselves and their child and sign a liability waiver. The Volunteer Coordinator will meet with the child and adult and do a reference check on the adult. The child and supervising adult will then participate in an orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator and fulfill any required training with animal care staff.
Once you submit an application, our Volunteer Coordinator will interview you and contact your references. After that, you will be invited to a new volunteer orientation and have the opportunity to shadow an existing volunteer or staff member in the role(s) you are interested in.
Please understand that we may not have a position for every applicant. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider helping us.
